Top 5 Disrupting Future Technologies

Dan: Good morning Al.

How was your weekend?  Haven't talked to you since Friday.

Al: Al struggling.  Al thought Al stomach was made of steel.  Al has eaten food nutrition from all over the universe and from all "star" scales of spiciness but Al has been defeated.

Al had ta...tha...da..thay..."Thai" food??

Dan heard of Thai food?

Dan: Yeah - it's pretty good, did you have a bad experience?? 

Al: YES!  Earth people humans BEWARE, Thai food is solid fire!!!  Well, at least when you order 5 of 5 stars from Racha Thai Noodle.  5 of 5 stars is food torture, tasty but burn hole through intestinal system!

Dan: Bad times.

Well, stop being a panzy and let's get on with our discussion.  Although there are plenty of big time world news going on right now like:
1. A new nation being born
2. The US Largest Beef Recall - Ever!  No - not a new Ron Jeremy movie.
3. Daytona 500 results - biggest race of the day of sport that again is only popular in the US

We've gotten a ton of mail with some questions, specifically trying to test your superior intellect.

Al: A "ton"?  As in more than 1 hate mail??  

Dan: Everything is relative - regardless!!  I thought we'd answer one of the main questions - What are the top future technologies that will significantly change the world?

Al: It is hard to tell with such irrational species as Earth human peoples but here are the top technologies that are available right now that will change the world in the next 3-6 years.

NOTE: Many times what changes the world is not something new BUT a new method of implementing an existing technology.

1. MacBook Air - Not necessarily this product but THE CONCEPT.  The future of all technology based civilizations is to move from tangible media to digital media.  The value of such concept is appetizing but difficult to implement in a way to obtain critical mass.  MacBook Air and associated marketing activities from Apple Earth company is the first real push investment to have masses of Earth people adopt a product totally reliant on internet access and digital media.

These types of products have been available on Earth planet for many years now, mainly from Sony company but with little marketing push for mass adoption.

Large Earth companies regularly fall into this black hole trap - disrupting technology needs disrupting marketing. 



2. WiMax - True long range wireless data connection technology.  This is other half of equation for digital media dependant solutions such as Apple MacBook Air, Apple iPhone, Apple iPod Touch, Zune, Mobile Phones, Communication, Email, etc.

This is not to say that physical data infrastructure will not be important - it will.  High speed data network for homes and work will still need to be around - at significantly higher bandwidth than wireless for heavier data actions - Verizon on correct track.  

WiMax mass adoption will free Earth peoples from physical locations - direct connection to world wide web enabling work and play from anywhere.  Where an Earth people is physically located will no longer matter except for manual workers.  Work and do anything anywhere anytime thanks to WiMax.

The critical point for success for this technology will be removal of political layers stopping usage of frequencies world wide for one world wide layer of WiMax service.  ClearWire is only Earth company slightly mirroring Apple with a disruptive investment in marketing but more is needed. 

3. Windows Home Server - Related to above, if Earth peoples have reliable high speed internet available in 20% of geographical world where 80% of population resides via WiMax AND Earth peoples have adopted devices which depend entirely on digital media and can access WiMax network such as Apple MacBook Air, iPhone, iPod Touch, Zune, Mobile Phone, etc.. then these connecting devices will not be main storage centers.

Masses of Earth people will need a central locker to store digital media and access from anywhere where world wide web connection is obtained. 

Microsoft has released Windows Home Server which fundamentally enables the functionality - the basics are in place.  Unfortunately what is missing is investment in disruptive marketing from Microsoft which could prove fatal for Microsoft.  The functionality is what is important - a personal digital locker.  These smaller solutions will also address similar issues for Earth small businesses - Earth medium and large businesses have technologies that have already addressed the issue for them.

4. Solar Power - As we've discussed many times before, Earth peoples MUST move away from non-renewable energy sources to power critical infrastructure and transportation.

It is simple and difficult as it took Al-Landian's millions of Earth years to grasp concept.  Life forms must seek energy source from things that will always be around, regardless of what Earth peoples do.

The solution here is light....sun light or wind and kind of water.  Mainly Solar Power, second priority Wind Power, third priority Water Power (hydroelectricity) and last resort should be other non-renewable resources such as oil and corn food.

The success facto here again is wide adoption.  A solar power company such as SunPower must partner with large home builder to integrate solar power into all new homes - ALL NEW HOMES AND BUILDINGS MUST HAVE SOLAR POWER SOLUTION. 

Earth peoples think that general public will not pay premium but did Dan ever think he would pay $400 for Apple iPod when other digital music players available for $100??

Dan: That was a TON of MONEY!!  I had to save beer money for months - it sucked but it was worth it because it prepared me for the next iPod I bought 8 months later...

Al: Precisely - if the investment is made by companies and made the standard irrational Earth peoples WILL adopt.

5. Self Drivable Car - Along with above issue of energy sources, some of the biggest users of oil are Earth cars, specifically during long commutes on large highways, interstates and freeways across Earth globe.  The first step in managing congestion, increasing safety and reducing usage of oil on top of topics previously covered is the self drivable car which Earth human tells car the destination and car via connection to internet traffic information, maps, etc. drives the vehicle in the most optimal route with the most optimal vehicle tuning settings to get to destination fastest possible AND with least amount of energy used. 

Developing car that does this with sensors talking with other cars, mapping systems etc is the first step.  Secondary steps will be complimentary developments on street physical infrastructure - eventually major transit streets will be like a 1 sigma manufacturing line with .0002% accident rate, no traffic jams and Earth peoples can multi-task during commutes.

I suspect American car makers such as Ford, GM or Chrysler will be first to implement because they are the most desperate.

Remember state of Apple before iPod?

It's ridiculous how there's so much crap that builders and owners have to go through to make improvements or build houses which drive the prices of stuff through the roofs - WHY THE F can't they just extend their ridiculous rules to make solar panels and better insulation required for all new properties?????
